What we fit

Four kinds of floor, and when each one is right

We stock all four because no single construction suits every room in a house. Most homes end up with two.

Engineered oak

All-in from £70/m²

A hardwood top layer bonded to a stable ply core. Handles underfloor heating and the swing between a damp autumn and a dry January without cupping.

  • 3–4mm wear layer
  • Sandable twice
  • UFH-safe

Solid hardwood

All-in from £96/m²

One piece of timber, top to bottom. The longest-lived floor we lay, and the fussiest about moisture — we'll say no if the room isn't right for it.

  • Refinish 5+ times
  • Best above ground floor
  • Not for wet rooms

Parquet & chevron

All-in from £110/m²

Block and chevron laid by hand, set out from the room's true centre line rather than the wall that happens to be nearest.

  • Hand set-out
  • Borders available
  • 5–8 days typical

Luxury vinyl plank

All-in from £48/m²

Where water wins — utility rooms, boot rooms, busy family kitchens. Not wood, and we won't pretend otherwise, but it's the right answer sometimes.

  • Fully waterproof
  • Warm underfoot
  • 20-year wear warranty

Fitter laying oak boards by hand

Subfloor honesty

Most failed floors were never the floor's fault

Almost every callback in this trade traces back to what was underneath: damp concrete, a bouncing joist, a 9mm dip across the width of a lounge. Fitting a beautiful board over that buys you two good years and then a complaint.

So we survey the subfloor before we quote the floor, we write down the readings, and if the preparation costs more than you expected we tell you at that point — not after the boards are cut.

How it works

Five steps, roughly three weeks

  1. 01

    Conversation

Ten minutes on the phone or by email. Rooms, rough sizes, how the space gets used, whether there are dogs. We'll tell you straight away if your budget and your wish list don't meet.

  2. 02

    Free survey

We measure properly, take moisture readings from the subfloor and check levels across the room. You get a written quote within two working days with supply, fitting and extras itemised.

  3. 03

    Acclimatisation

Boards are delivered and left flat in the room for 5–7 days so their moisture content settles to your home, not our warehouse. Skipping this is the single most common cause of gapping.

  4. 04

    Fitting

Dust extraction on every saw, floors protected, one lead fitter on your job start to finish. Most rooms take 1–2 days; parquet takes longer and we'll have said so in writing.

  5. 05

    Handover

We walk the floor with you in daylight, hand over a care kit and offcuts for future repairs, and register your guarantee. Any snag inside 14 days, we come back — no argument.

Care

Looking after it is genuinely simple

  • Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting weekly.Grit is what dulls a finish; water rarely is.
  • Damp-mop with a pH-neutral wood soap monthly.Never a steam mop, never a bleach-based spray.
  • Felt pads under every chair and table leg.Check them twice a year — they collect grit.
  • Keep humidity between 40% and 60%.Boards shrink in a dry, heated winter and swell back.
  • Re-oil high-traffic zones every 3–5 years. An hour's work per room, and the floor resets.

Guarantees

In writing, before we start

10-year fitting guarantee

Workmanship covered in writing. Lifting, gapping or squeaks caused by our fitting, we put right at our cost.

25-year wear warranty

On engineered ranges used domestically, backed by the mill and administered by us, not a call centre.

Fixed quote, or we absorb it

The survey price is the price. If we measure wrong, that's ours to carry — not a variation on your invoice.
